Utagawa Hiroshige Trivia Questions

Hiroshige was born in Edo (now Tokyo), not Kyoto. He spent most of his life there and is strongly associated with the city.

Hiroshige was incredibly prolific, with estimates of his total print output ranging from 5,000 to over 10,000, including multiple famous series.

Artists like Vincent van Gogh and Claude Monet admired and collected Hiroshige's prints, and his compositional techniques influenced their work.

Hiroshige's family were low-ranking samurai, but his role was as a fire warden, not a warrior. He never served as a soldier or swordsman.

Hiroshige inherited the position of fire warden from his father and held it for many years before dedicating himself to art. He later passed the role to his son.
