Bergman was a natural polyglot, learning languages for roles and living in Europe. She even dubbed herself in some foreign versions of her films.

Justus Bergman, a photographer, passed away in 1929, leaving Ingrid an orphan. This loss pushed her toward acting as an emotional outlet.
