Mimics are always hostile. The mimic in Sen's Fortress drops the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring, but only after you kill it. No friendly mimics exist.

The male Undead Merchant in the Undead Burg is the sole vendor for the Residence Key. If killed before purchase, you cannot acquire it in that playthrough, blocking access to Lower Undead Burg through the intended door.
